Scenic Roots

Biography

Scenic Roots
Bluegrass? Folk? Old-Time? Celtic? Gospel? Scenic Roots is a bit of each. They will take you on a scenic journey as they weave the many musical influences together to create their own blend of acoustic music. They'll take you back in time and share songs from a simpler day, when people used to gather on front porches to pick and sing together.

Scenic Roots is comprised of the Rogers family, from Concordia, KS. Amber, age 19 , plays the fiddle, claw-hammer banjo, mandolin, hammered dulcimer, and handles much of the lead singing. Erin, age 21 , plays the mountain dulcimers, piano, guitar, and sings harmony. She was the National Mountain Dulcimer Champion in 2004. Doug, aka Dad, plays guitar and mandolin, and sings lead and harmony. He handles most of the talking. Marci, aka Mom, often runs the sound. She is responsible for getting everyone dressed, and onstage at the proper time.

Since its formation in 1997, Scenic Roots has performed in seventeen states and Japan. They were selected by the Kansas Arts Commission as three year members of the Arts on Tour program. They have performed at bluegrass festivals, arts council concerts, contra dances, restaurants, private parties, and more. They have also taught at music camps and schools.

Ready for some toe tapping music? Ready to shed a tear as you listen to a sad, mournful song? Prepared to laugh at some whimsical lyrics? Scenic Roots will take you there. Prepare yourself for a musical journey unlike any other.
