Erin and I have successfully completed the first week of our fall tour. I want to first say a big “I’m sorry” to God’s Mountain Bible camp in Rushville, MO. I landed in the Emergency Room on the day of their gig, so I’m very sorry! Today marks 5 weeks post surgery, I think I can say that the last 5 weeks have been some of the most challenging for me. I don’t deal very well with not being independent. I landed in the ER twice, have had 4 rounds of antibiotics, 1 round of steroids, 4 refills for my pain pills, and now months of physical therapy ahead. Needless to say I never thought having surgery would be this hard. In hind-site I should have waited until Thanksgiving to have surgery, but now that it’s done I just have to finish out strong. Thanks to everyone for taking such good care of me, especially my family! Let’s just say they went above and beyond. From ice cream, to wheel chair rides all around Winfield, fixing my hair, packing my suitcases ect! It’s been a long month!
Enough of the sappy feeling sorry for myself! I am so excited to let ya’ll know that I placed in the top 5 at the Walnut Valley Festival’s Fiddle Competition! I had an awesome year entering contests, I’m glad I did it!
Now, last week Erin and I attended the IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) business conference and fan fest in Nashville, TN. During the week, Erin and I attended workshops varying in topics and being taught by working professionals in the business. We learned some new things and are excited to tackle the next year head on! What do you think about Scenic Roots touring to 200 towns under 20,000 in the year 2012?
Next week Erin and I are heading to the studio to record our new ALBUM! I can’t put into words how excited we are about this new project. We have a photo shoot scheduled for the end of October so you can be looking forward to new promo shots, posters ect. We have some brand new songs that we are thrilled about, we can’t wait for you to hear them at a show soon!
This morning I enjoyed listening to a new EP…check it out if you want. One of our favorite bands and biggest influences, Crooked Still: http://www.nodepression.com/profiles/blogs/crooked-still-listening-party-and-contest
Check back soon for updates from the studio!
